Oh, and I’d never seen a fire retardant The Handmaid’s Tale before (how, I don’t know, as I’m a huge Atwood fan!) - so thank you, that’s bloody fantastic!

Great update Beck! I need to announce (that’s a bit full on?!) that I did not like Force of Nature (the film)... and I’m gutted 😩 The book was ok (nothing on The Dry, both book & film) but apart from the cinematography (which was beautiful), and kudos to Eric Bana, Anna Torv & Deborra-Lee Furness (but not many others - I’m looking at you, Jacqueline McKenzie - I hope it was the screenplay writing...) I was left ‘wanting’ and ruing what could have been... I’ve read Jane’s first four books (Looking forward to The Survivors’ TV series in the making!) & now will be reading Exiles after I’m finished with my current books. That is all. 😆

I think 'Exiles' is my favourite of hers other than 'The Dry', so hopefully you enjoy it. I didn't really care for 'The Survivors', sadly. I also found Jacqueline McKenzie's character in 'Force of Nature' a bit meh -- more of a sounding board for Falk than a character in her own right. In fairness to the actress, I suspect much of that is the writing, not her performance skills. To me, the movie was okay overall, but I honestly don't know whether they could've done much better with it. It's a good book, but I think it was just one that was inherently tricky to translate into a film.
